Axar Patel replaces Rishabh Pant as Delhi Capitals captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League 2025. Rishabh Pant joined Lucknow Super Giants after been released by the franchise before mega auction held in November last year.

Axar Patel joined Delhi Capitals in 2019 and played 82 matches for them so far. He picked 62 wickets at an economy of 7.09 and scored 967 runs. Recently Axar Patel named India vice captain for the T20 Internationals.

Axar Patel was Delhi Capitals top retention with INR 16.50 crore. He has captained a T20 team in 17 matches while he led Delhi Capitals in one match last year against RCB. He also led Gujarat in domestic cricket including Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2024-25.

Recently , Axar Patel played a vital role in India winning the Champions Trophy 2025 by scoring 109 runs and picked five wickets at an economy of 4.35.

In 2025 , Delhi Capitals will begin their campaign against Lucknow Super Giants on March 24 at the Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket stadium in Vishakhapatnam. The tournament will kick start on March 22^nd and the opening match is between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders.
