Delhi Capitals appoint Kevin Peterson as Team Mentor

Former England captain Kevin Peterson appointed as Team Mentor for the IPL franchise team Delhi Capitals ahead of the upcoming IPL 2025 season. Delhi Capitals is yet to announce their captain for the season after releasing Rishabh Pant.

Kevin Petersen will join the support staff which includes Director of Cricket Venugopal Rao , Head Coach Hemang Badani , Assistant coach Mathew Trott and Bowling coach Munaf Patel.

“I’ve got incredible memories of representing the Delhi Capitals franchise in the IPL, and I’ve been able to maintain that passion for the team even as a broadcaster over the years. I shared the field with Venu (Venugopal Rao) during the 2012 season, and it’s great to be reconnecting with him as we begin a new chapter at this amazing franchise,” Kevin Petersen said.

“I’ve got a great relationship with the owners and the Delhi Capitals fans, so when this idea came about, it was a very quick Yes for me. It’s an exciting opportunity to step into this new rule as a mentor for Delhi Capitals, and I’m really looking forward to joining the squad, working closely with the boys, and doing everything I can to help us win the ultimate prize,” Kevin Petersen added.

As a player Petersen represented England in 104 Tests, 136 ODIs and 37 T20Is for England. He scored 8181 Tests runs , 4440 ODI runs and 1176 T20I runs for England in his illustrious career.

In his IPL career Kevin Petersen played 36 matches , scored 1001 runs with an average of 35.75 with strike rate of 134.73. In IPL his highest score was 103.
