India star pacer Jasprit Bumrah won Sir Garfield Sobers award for ICC Men’s Cricketer of the year 2024 and New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr won Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy after being named ICC Women’s Cricketer of the year 2024 respectively.

Jasprit Bumrah and Amelia Kerr also won ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the year and Women’s T20 Cricketer of the year.

Bumrah becomes the fifth Indian to receive the award after Rahul Dravid (2004) , Sachin Tendulkar (2010) , Ravichandran Ashwin (2016) and Virat Kohli (2017 , 2018).

Bumrah picked 71 test wickets from 13 matches in 2024 , becoming fastest Indian to pick 200 test wickets in history. Second placed Gus Atkinson of England picked 52 wickets from 11 matches.

Much like in Tests Bumrah had an outstanding year in T20Is as well. He played a huge role in India winning the ICC T20I World Cup for the second time after 17 years. He picked 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 with an outstanding economy of 4.17.

New Zealand all-rounder who won ICC Women’s Cricketer of the year 2024 played a huge role in New Zealand winning their first T20 World Cup in Dubai in October.

She scored 387 runs and picked 29 wickets at an average of 15.55 in T20I in 2024. She won Player of the Match award against South Africa in World Cup final and also won Player of the Tournament award.

In 50 over format she scored 264 runs at an average of 33.00 and picked 14 wickets as well.

“It’s a huge honour to win the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy for ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year. I guess for me individual awards aren’t something you think about much , but this is an extremely special one,” Kerr said.
