Rishabh Pant named new LSG captain

India wicket keeper batter Rishabh Pant was announced as new captain for Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2025. Pant takes over from K.L.Rahul who lead the franchise in first three seasons.

LSG franchise owner Sanjiv Geonka picked Rishabh Pant at the mega auction for an IPL record price of Rs.27 crores.

“Thank You to LSG family for showing faith in me. I will give my 200% and that’s my commitment to you. I will try whatever is my power to repay the faith you have shown. Looking forward to have a new beginning with new energy and just have a blast out there and have lots of fun,” Rishabh Pant said.

“One aspect of my captaincy is that I am I wanted to be very proactive. This something I have learnt in the last two years. The more communication you can have with the management and players, the bond becomes better,” Pant added.

Rishabh Pant made his IPL debut in 2016 for Delhi capitals and played for the franchise till 2024. He was appointed as Delhi Capitals captain in 2021 and led the franchise in 2021 , 2022 and 2024 editions. Pant is the most capped player and also the highest run scorer for Delhi.
