Steve Smith became 15th player to hit 10k runs in test cricket

Australia star batter Steve Smith joins the elite club of 10,000 runs in test cricket. He became the 15th player in the world and fourth Australian to reach this milestone in test cricket history against Srilanka in Galle.

Steve Smith who arrived in Srilanka for the two match test series with 9999 runs in his name. He took quick single off the very first delivery he faced in the match to reach another glorious feet in his outstanding career.

He becomes the second fastest to reach this milestone. Smith so far played 115 tests for Australia with an average of 56.44. He hit 35 hundreds and 4 double hundreds so far.

It took 20 tests for Smith to push his batting average above 40 but in next 50 tests he hit 22 centuries with an impressive average of 74.36.

Galle test is the 78th consecutive test where Smith’s average is above 55. This is a record for most consecutive tests any batter has played while averaging over 55.

At the end of first days play of first test of the series Steve Smith remains unbeaten on 104 along with the opener Usman Khawaja who is batting on 147. Australia were 330/2.
