37 year old India batter Cheteshwar Pujara retires from all forms of Indian cricket. He last played for India in 2023 World Test Championship final announced his retirement on X. In his outstanding career Pujara played 103 tests and five ODIs for India.
Pujara’s Career
Pujara batted at No.3 most of the times in test cricket after the retirement of legendary batter Rahul Dravid. From 103 test matches he scored 7195 runs with an average of 43.60. He hits 19 centuries and 35 fifties with highest score of 206 not out.
In domestic cricket Pujara played 278 first class , 130 list A and 71 T20 matches. He scored 21,301 (FC runs) , 5759 (List A runs) and 1556 (T20s runs) respectively. He also have 6 first class wickets in his name with best bowling figures of 2/4.

Chetheshwar Pujara made his test debut for India against Australia in 2010. He played a huge role in India’s home and away wins. In 2018 Australia tour Pujara scored 521 runs including 3 hundreds and faced 1258 balls. He was named Player of the Series in India’s first ever series win against Australia in Australia.
Two years later he played an incredible patience knock of 56 runs from 211 balls to help India another series win against Australia in Australia. For the first time in 32 years Australia beaten at Gabba.
What Pujara said?
“Wearing the Indian jersey , singing the anthem , and trying my best each time I stepped on he field – it’s impossible to put into words what it truly meant. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and with immense gratitude I have decided to retire from all forms of Indian cricket. Thak you all for the love and Support,” Pujara posted on X.
“As a little boy from the small town of Rajkot, along with my parents, I set out to aim for the stars, and dreamt to be a part of the Indian Cricket team. Little did I know then that this game would give me so much – invaluable opportunities , experiences , purpose , love and above all to represent my state and this great nation.

“I would like to thank the BCCI and Saurashtra Cricket Association for the opportunity and support through my cricket career. I am equally grateful to all the teams, franchises and counties I have been able to represent over the years.
“The game has taken me to places across the globe – and the passionate support and energy of the fans has always been an constant. I have been humbled by the wishes and motivation wherever I have played and will always remain grateful,” Pujara said.
