Government of India make it clear that India will participate in the upcoming Asia Cup that involves Pakistan. India will take part in multi-nation events but there will not be any bilateral series against Pakistan.
The decision from Government came when India and Pakistan set to meet in Asia Cup group stage match on September 14th in Dubai. Both teams last played each other in ICC Champions Trophy 2025 which India won by 6 wickets.

Recent Cross-Border Tension between both countries is one of the main reason behind boycotting calls on Social media for the match against Pakistan in Asia Cup. India boycotted match against Pakistan in the World Champions of Legends exhibition league.
Upcoming Asia Cup clash between both countries will be the first match after the Pahalgam Terror Attack in April.
Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs Statement
“India’s approach to sports event involving Pakistan reflects its overall policy in dealing with that country.
“So far as bilateral sports event in each others country are concerned, Indian team will not be participating in competitions in Pakistan. Nor will we permit Pakistani teams to play in India. With regard to International and multilateral events, in India or abroad, we are guided by the International sports bodies and the interests of our own sportspersons,” the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs said.

India looks to relax the visa processes for the players and match officials as India look to push forward their bid of hosting the olympics.
“To position India as a preferred destination for hosting International sporting events, the visa process for sportspersons , team officials , technical personnel and office-bearers of International Sports Governing Bodies shall be simplified. In respect of office-bearers of International Sports Governing Bodies, a multi-entry visa shall be granted on priority basis for the duration of their official tenure , subject to maximum period of five years.
“It is also relevant to take into account India’s emergence as a credible venue to host international sports events. Accordingly, Indian teams and individual players will take part in international events that also have teams or players from Pakistan. Similarly , Pakistani players and teams will be able to participate in such multilateral events hosted by India,” the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs further said.
Earlier BCCI and PCB have agreed on Hybrid Model for all ICC events in the 2024-27 cycle.
