Bangladesh announced their 16 member squad for the Asia Cup which is to be played in UAE from September 9 to 28. Former captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan not picked.

Mehidy Hasan , new ODI captain failed to make a big impact on his return to Bangladesh squad after 2-1 series lost to UAE.

Team News

They recalled wicket keeper batter Nurul Hasan and allrounder Saif Hasan to the squad. The same squad will play the three match T20I series against Netherlands starting on August 30.

Nurul Hasan last played T20I for Bangladesh during the 2022 ICC T20I World Cup in Australia. He lost his place in the squad due to poor form. His performance in Bangladesh Premier League , National Cricket League and the Global Super League helps him to be back in the National squad.

Litton Das who led Bangladesh to their first series win against Srilanka followed by 2-1 series win against Pakistan at home will continue as Bangladesh captain.

Group Members and first Match

Bangladesh placed in Group B along with Afghanistan , Hong Kong and Srilanka. Their Asia Cup campaign will begin against Hong Kong in Abu Dhabi on September 11.
