Royal Challengers Bangalore begin their title defense with record chase in WPL opening match against Gujarat Giants. They chased down 202 run target with 6 wickets and 9 balls to spare.
Earlier RCB captain Smriti Mandhana won the toss and put Gujarat Giants in top bat. They lost their opener Laura Wolvaardt (6 runs from 10 balls) and Dayalan Hemalatha (4 runs from 9 balls) cheaply.

Australia players Beth Mooney’s 56 runs from 42 balls innings and captain Ashleigh Garner’s scintillating innings of 79 runs from 37 balls including 3 fours and 8 sixes help Gujarat Giants to set record chase of 202 for RCB.

Deandra Dottin (25 runs from 13 balls) also given useful contributions with the bat for GG.
Renuka Singh (2/25 in 4 overs) , Kanika Ahuja (1/19 in 3 overs) , Prema Rawat (1/26 in 2 overs) and Georgia Wareham (1/50 in 3 overs) are the wicket takers for RCB.
Chasing 202 run target RCB lost their captain Smriti Mandhana (9 runs from 7 balls) and Danni-Wyatt-Hodge (4 runs from 4 balls) in first 2 overs for just 14 runs on the board.
Ellyse Perry (57 runs from 34 balls) and Raghvi Bist (25 runs from 27 balls) partnership of 86 from 55 balls brought them back in the chase. Deandra Dottin broke the partnership by dismissing Raghvi Bist in the 11th over.

Richa Ghosh who smashed 64 runs from just 27 balls including 7 fours and 4 sixes along with Kanika Ahuja (30* runs from 13 balls) took RCB home in 19th over with their unbeaten partnership of 93 runs from 37 balls.
This is the highest successful run chase in WPL history.
Ashleigh Gardner (2/33 in 3 overs) , Deandra Dottin (1/41 in 3.3 overs) and Sayali Satghare (1/44 in 4 overs) are the wicket takers for Gujarat Giants.
