Babar Azam becomes fastest Asian to reach 6000 ODI runs

Babar Azam joins fastest batter to reach 6000 ODI runs. He achieved this milestone during the tri-series final against New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi.

Babar joins former South Africa batter Hashim Amla who reached this milestone in 2015 while playing against India in Mumbai. Both took 123 innings.

Kohli who took 136 innings to reach 6000 ODI runs now moved to third position while Kane Williamson and David Warner took 139 innings each.

Saeed Anwar was the fastest Pakistani batter to reach the landmark before Babar Azam. Anwar took 162 innings to reach 6000 One Day International runs.

Babar Azam got off to a decent start in the tri series final against New Zealand but got out after scoring 29 runs from 34 balls.

Babar Azam urges media to stop calling him “King”. “Please stop calling me King. I am not there yet. There are new roles for me now. Whatever I have done before is in the past. Every match is a fresh challenge , and I must focus on present and future,” Babar Azam said.

He made his ODI debut for Pakistan against West Indies at Dubai in 2016. So far he played 126 ODIs for Pakistan with an average of 55.98.

Babar Azam is the only batter to score hat-tricks of hundreds in ODI cricket history so far. He done it against West Indies in 2016 and he did it again in 2022 against Australia and West Indies.

Babar is the fastest batter to reach 5000 ODI runs , reached it in 97 innings.

Pakistan will host the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy from February 19th onwards. Pakistan placed in Group A along with India , Bangladesh and New Zealand.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has chosen UAE as neutral venues for India’s matches in ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as per International Cricket Council (ICC) approval of hybrid model proposed to PCB.

With this move , India’s matches including high profile India-Pakistan clash will be held in UAE.
