Bangladesh Women cricketer Jahanara Alam takes indefinite break from cricket due to mental health issues , The Bangladesh Cricket Board said.
Jahanara Alam played 52 ODI’s and 83 T20I for Bangladesh so far. She picked 48 ODI wickets with best bowling figures of 3/18 and 60 T20I wickets with best bowling figures of 5/28.

In a letter sent to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) , Jahanara Alam wrote that she was not ready mentally to continue playing for the national team , and need a break from the sport for atleast 2 months.
As per Cricbuzz report , “She had given us letter stating that she was not mentally ready to play and took a break from cricket for two months. She even said that if necessary , she should not be kept in the contract. We need to respect that because if someone feels that she is not mentally ready and wants to take a break for some days, we need to accept that. There is no specific time frame for which she is out. Whenever she feels well , she will let us know,” BCB women’s wing-in-charge Habibul Bashar.

Moreover , Bangladesh Cricket Board announced their squad for the upcoming tour to West Indies which consists of three ODIs and Three T20Is which is scheduled to begin from January 19 onwards. All matches will be played at the Warner Park in Basseterre , St Kitts.
