Wicket keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen will captain South Africa for the three match T20I series which is scheduled to begin from December 10 onwards. To concentrate on upcoming test series regular captain Aiden Markram rested for the series.

Marco Jansen , Keshav Maharaj , Kagiso Rabada and Tristan Stubbs also not included in the T20 squad because of their involvement in tests , but all will play three match ODI series against Pakistan later this month.

Ryan Rickelton , Kwena Maphaka and Matthew Breetzke who are all part of the test squad against Srilanka will join the T20I squad after the completion of second test against Srilanka.

Pacer Anrich Nortje and spinner Tabraiz Shamsi return to the T20I squad for the first time since the T20 World Cup in June , where South Africa reached the final.

All-rounder George Linde who last played for South Africa in a T20I in July 2021 has also been named in the squad for the first time in three years.
