Women’s T20 World Cup shifted to UAE from Bangladesh (Image Credit:- X)

The International Cricket Council (ICC) shifted Women’s T20 World Cup from Bangladesh to UAE. ICC was forced to relocate the mega event due to political turmoil in Bangladesh.

Dubai and Sharjah will now stage the World Cup from October 3^rd to 20^th. Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has agreed to the shift. It will , however , continue to be the official host.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently decline ICC’s request to host the Women’s T20 World Cup due to weather concerns and upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup in a year.

23 match tournament comprising 10 teams is expected to follow the model of 2021 men’s Twenty20 World Cup. India , Pakistan , Srilanka , Bangladesh , Australia , England , Newzeland , South Africa , Scotland and West Indies are the teams in the tournament.

“It is shame not to be hosting the women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh as we know Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) would have staged a memorable event. I would like to thank the team at the BCB for exploring all avenues to try and enable the event to be hosted in Bangladesh, but travel advisories from the government of a number of the participating teams meant that wasn’t feasible. However, they will retain hosting rights. We look forward to taking an ICC global event to Bangladesh in near future.

“I’d also like to thank the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping in to host on behalf of the BCB and Srilanka and Zimbabwe for their generous offers of support, and we look forward to seeing ICC global events in both of those countries in 2026,” ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice said.
