Former South Africa pacer Morne Morkel named India men’s team bowling coach. BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed the news.

Morne Morkel will replace former India fast bowler Paras Mhambrey and he will assume duties against upcoming home series against Bangladesh which is scheduled to begin from September 19^th in Chennai.

Morkel will join Indian coaching staff under the head coach Gautham Gambhir. Morkel and Gambhir worked together for the franchise team Lucknow Super Giants in Indian Premier League.

Morkel worked as Pakistan men’s team bowling coach until last December. Gambhir is believed to have recommended Morkel to the BCCI for the position of bowling coach.

Morkel played 86 Tests , 117 ODIs and 44 T20s for South Africa and picked 309 , 188 and 47 wickets respectively.
