Former England batter Ian Bell named Srilanka batting coach for the upcoming England tour. Srilanka will play 3 tests which is scheduled to begin from August 21^st onwards.

Bell played 118 tests , 161 ODIs and 8 T20s for England and scored 7727 , 5416 and 188 runs respectively.

After his retirement in 2020 Ian Bell worked as a batting coach for England men’s U-19 and England Lions team , assistant coach at Hobart Hurricanes , consultant batting coach at Derbyshire and assistant coach of the New Zealand men’s side before the 2023 ODI World Cup.

“We appointed Ian to bring in a person with local knowledge to help the players with key insights on the conditions there. Ian has a lot of experience playing in England, and we believe his inputs will help our team in this crucial tour,” SLC CEO Ashley de Silva said.

First test of the series will be played in Manchester (August 21-25) , second test at Lords (August 29-September 2) and third test at Oval (September 6-10).
