Australia defeated England by seven wickets at Lord’s and lifted their seventh World Cup title with a brilliant all-round team performance. England batted first and set a target of 151 runs but Australia chased it in 17.1 overs with seven wickets left. Beth Mooney was named Player of the Match after scoring 64 runs from 49 balls.

After winning the toss, Australia chose to field first.

England Innings

Put into bat by Australia, England lost both openers cheaply inside the powerplay. Amy Jones scored 6 from 6 balls while Danni Wyatt Hodge made 8 from 9 balls before getting out.

Alice Capsey looked in good form but got out playing a reverse sweep off Molineux after scoring 23 runs from 20 balls. England then lost another key wicket as Heather Knight was trapped in front by Kim Garth for just 2 runs.

From 70 for 4 in 10.5 overs Nat Sciver Brunt and Freya Kemp added a vital partnership to help England reach a fighting total. Both added an unbeaten 80 runs from 55 balls.

Nat Sciver Brunt scored 58 from 53 balls while Freya Kemp made 44 from 28 balls.

Chasing 151 runs Australia lost opener Georgia Voll for 9 to Lauren Bell in the second over. A 100 run second wicket stand between Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield took the game away from England.

Beth Mooney scored 64 from 49 balls while Phoebe Litchfield made 48 from 35 balls. Ellyse Perry remained unbeaten on 13 while Ashleigh Gardner stayed not out on 3 as Australia chased the target in 17.1 overs.

With this win Australia lift their record seventh World Cup Title.
