Siraj’s heroics helps India beat England by 6 runs to level the series 2-2

In a thrilling final day play of a dramatic test series India beat England by 6 runs to square the series 2-2. Chasing 374 runs in the final innings England bowled out for 367. Mohammad Siraj named Player of the Match for his outstanding spell.

India Pacers shines

England resume their innings on day 5 requiring 35 more to win with 4 wickets remaining. Jamie Overton (9 runs from 17 balls) begin the day for England by hitting two boundaries in the first two balls of the day bowled by Prasidh Krishna.

Siraj who bowled his heart out provided India the first breakthrough by dismissing dangerous Jamie Smith (2 runs from 20 balls). He knicked one to the keeper Dhruv Jurel. Siraj then trapped Jamie Overton (9 runs from 17 balls) infront of the stumps to push England to 354/8.

Prasidh Krishna gives England another blow by dismissing Josh Tongue for duck to put India one wicket and England 17 runs away from win.

Injured Woakes came to bat

Chris Woakes who injured his shoulder during the first day of the fifth test walked to bat with one handed gets standing ovation from crowd.

With injured woakes on the other end Atkinson(17 runs from 29 balls) hit a six of Siraj to give England hope. He protected Woakes by facing the remaining balls of the innings. Finally Siraj’s yorker rattled his stumps to give India thrilling 6 run win to level the series.

Wicket Takers India

77.1 overs out of 85.1 overs bowled by Indian pacers and they took all 10 England wickets. Mohammed Siraj (5/104 in 30.1 overs) was the pick of the bowlers with five wicket haul. Prasidh Krishna (4/126 in 27 overs) gives Siraj excellent support.

Akash Deep (1/85 in 20 overs) is the other wicket taker for India.
