Rohit , Bumrah helps Mumbai beat Gujarat in Eliminator

Rohit Sharma (81 runs from 50 balls) and Jasprit Bumrah (1/27 in 4 overs) outstanding performance put Mumbai Indians in qualifier 2 clash against Punjab Kings on Sunday. Mumbai set mammoth target of 229 for Gujarat and restrict them to 208/6 in 20 overs.

Mumbai openers Rohit Sharma and Jonny Bairstow (47 runs from 22 balls) gives them strong start by scoring 84 runs in 7.2 overs before Sai Kishore dismissed Jonny Bairstow. Suryakumar Yadhav who came to bat at No.3 hit 33 runs from 20 balls and put together 59 run stand with Rohit Sharma for the second wicket.

Rohit Sharma in his match winning knock of 81 runs from 50 balls becomes the second batter in IPL history to score 7000 runs. Virat Kohli leads the list with 8618 runs. Pacer Prasidh Krishna dismissed Rohit Sharma in 17th over after been dropped twice , first by Gerald Coetzee and then by Kusal Mendis.

Tilak Varma (25 runs from 11 balls) and Hardik Pandya (22* runs from 9 balls) innings at the end help Mumbai put mammoth target of 229 for Gujarat Titans. Sai Kishore (2/42 in 4 overs) , Prasidh Krishna (2/53 in 4 overs) and Mohammed Siraj (1/37 in 4 overs) are the wicket takers for Gujarat Titans.

Kiwi pacer Trent Boult once again showed his class by picking wicket in his first over. He trapped Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill (1 run from 2 balls) in front of the stumps. This is the 32nd time he picked wicket in his first over.

Sai Sudharsan (80 runs from 49 balls) and Kusal Mendis (20 runs from 10 balls) gives the start Gujarat needed in the chase with 64 runs from 34 balls. Unfortunately Mendis got out hit wicket , he lost his balance while playing a stroke against Mitchell Santner.

Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar (48 runs from 24 balls) partnership of 84 runs from 44 balls put Gujarat in strong position during the match. Bumrah broke the partnership with an unplayable yorker which castles Washington Sundar’s stumps.

Mumbai pacer Gleeson gives his team crucial wicket of Sai Sudharsan who is in red hot form in the 16th over. He hit 10 fours and a six in his knock of 80. Mumbai bowlers bowled well in the final overs to restrict Gujarat to 208/6 in thrilling chase.

Impact player Sherfane Rutherford hit 24 runs from 15 balls and Rahul Tewatia remains unbeaten on 16 runs from 11 balls.

Trent Boult (2/56 in 4 overs) , Mitchell Santner (1/10 in 1 over) , Jasprit Bumrah (1/27 in 4 overs) , Ashwini Kumar (1/28 in 3.3 overs) and Richard Gleeson (1/39 in 3.3 overs) are the wicket takers for Mumbai Indians.
