Allrounder Deepti Sharma named UP Warriorz captain for the upcoming WPL 2025. Regular captain Alyssa Healy ruled out of the tournament due to stress injury on her right foot.

In first auction Deepti Sharma sold to UP Warriorz for Rs.2.6 crore. She took 9 wickets and scored 90 runs in 2023 season.

In 2024 edition Deepti Sharma scored 295 runs to become the fifth highest run scorer and she took 10 wickets including a hattrick against Delhi Capitals.

UP Warriorz secured third place in WPL 2023 and failed to go beyond the league stage in WPL 2024 under Alyssa Healy’s captaincy.

The UP Warriorz has a fantastic squad, and we are confident that we will entertain our fans with the Warriorz brand of cricket, at the WPL this season as well. We can’t wait to play in Lucknow in front of our home fans, and hope to inspire the next generation of women atheletes,” Deepti Sharma said.

Deepti Sharma played 124 WT20Is and she scored 1086 runs with an average of 23.60. She scored two half centuries with highest score of 64.

Currently , Deepti Sharma is India’s leading wicket taker in T20Is. She took 138 wickets with best bowling figures of 4/10.

UP Warriorz will begin their campaign against Gujarat Giants at Vadodara’s BCA stadium on February 16.
