Board of control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Rohit Sharma will continue as India captain for the upcoming 3 match ODI series against England and Champions Trophy 2025.

BCCI announced he will sit in as captain on the press conference scheduled for January 18 , when the squads for the Champions Trophy and the ODIs against England will be announced.

Rohit’s future as India captain questioned after India’s 3-0 home series loss against New Zealand and 3-1 loss to Australia in Australia. Rohit Sharma has been going through a lean patch with the bat for some time now.

Rohit Sharma joined Mumbai Ranji squad for training sessions ahead of the second phase of the Ranji Trophy to regain his lost rhythm. He averages just 6.20 in five innings of Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

All of India’s three league games in Champions Trophy will be played in Dubai , which will also host one semi-final and final if India progress.
