Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has named former Saurashtra player Sitanshu Kotak as batting coach for India men’s cricket team. He will take charge for the upcoming white ball home series against England.

Sitanshu Kotak is currently India A head coach. He has been part of India A set-up and National Cricket Academy (NCA) for some time. It is understood that Gambhir had asked for a batting coach during the review meeting following BGT.

“Coach Gambhir had asked for a batting coach during the BCCI review meeting. Discussions were going since then and now Kotak will be added to the support staff,” senior BCCI official said.

Currently , India’s coaching staff consists of Abhishek Nayar (assistant Coach) , Morne Morkel (bowling coach) , Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coach) and T Dilip (bowling coach) besides the head coach Gautham Gambhir.

Sitanshu Kotak played 130 first class games , scored 8160 runs with an average of 41.76. He hit 15 hundreds and 55 half centuries. 168 not out was his highest score. He also picked 70 first class wickets in his career.

From 89 List A matches he scored 3083 runs with an average of 42.23. He hit 3 hundreds and 26 half centuries. 122 not out was his highest score. He also picked 54 list A wickets.
