Australia beat India by 184 runs in fourth test at Melbourne and took 2-1 lead in the series. Australia bowled India out for 155 after setting India 340 run in the fourth innings.

Marnus Labuschagne (70 runs from 139 balls) , Pat Cummins (41 runs from 90 balls) , Nathan Lyon (41 runs from 55 balls) and Scott Boland (15* runs from 74 balls) helped Australia recover from 91/6 at one stage.

Jasprit Bumrah (5/57 in 24.4 overs) , Mohammed Siraj (3/70 in 23 overs) and Ravindra Jadeja (1/33 in 14 overs) helps India bowled Australia out for 234 in their innings.

Chasing 340 run target India lost their captain Rohit Sharma (9 runs from 40 balls) , K.L.Rahul (0 run from 5 balls) and Virat Kohli (5 runs from 29 balls) before lunch for just 33 runs on the board.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (84 runs from 208 balls) and Rishabh Pant (30 runs from 104 balls) bat out the afternoon session without loosing any wicket. Rishabh Pant’s rash shot against Travis Head in the last session opens up Australia’s hope.

India lost last 7 wickets for just 34 runs in the final session and goes down 2-1 in the series. Fifth and final test of the series will be played from Jan 3 to Jan 7 at Sydney.

India’s hope of reaching the WTC final took a significant blow after this loss. India must win the last test at Sydney and rely on the result of Australia vs Srilanka series.
