Najmul Hossain Shanto to lead Bangladesh for the ODI series against Afghanistan

Najmul Hossain Shanto will continue as Bangladesh captain for the three match ODI series against Afghanistan which is scheduled to begin from November 6 onwards.

After 2-0 test loss to South Africa on home soil Shanto was reluctant to lead Bangladesh but BCB President Faruque Ahmed convinced him to stay on as captain for the ODI side.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz is likely to lead Bangladesh in tests while Taskin Ahmed or Towhid Hridoy will lead Bangladesh in T20Is.

Litton Das and Tanzim Ahmed didn’t find a place in the squad due to illness and shoulder injury respectively. Pacer Nahid Rana who played only tests for Bangladesh included in ODI squad for the first time.

BCB President Faruque Ahmed , who had earlier mentioned that all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was unavailable for the series , suggested that he is not match ready.

Bangladesh Squad:- Najmul Hossain Shanto (captain) , Soumya Sarkar , Tanzid Hasan Tamim , Zakir Hasan , Mushfiqur Rahim , Mahmudullah Riyad , Tawhid Hridoy , Jaker Ali Anik , Mehidy Hasan Miraz (vice-captain) , Rishad Hossain , Nasum Ahmed , Taskin Ahmed , Mustafizur Rahman , Shoriful Islam , Nahid Rana.
