43 year old former India and Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni gave some remarks about his participation in IPL 2025. It is believed that not just in IPL 2025 but he may take part in entire three-year cycle following the mega auction.
“I just want to enjoy whatever last few years of cricket I’m able to play. Like how during our childhood we used to go out play at 4[pm] , just enjoying the game. But when you play professional sport it become difficult to enjoy the game just like a game. So what I want to do is , there are emotions and commitments , but I want to enjoy the game for next few years,” Dhoni said at a promotional event in Goa as per espncricinfo report.

The deadline for all teams to submit their list of retained players is set for October 31, ahead of the mega auction.
Following a rule change in IPL 2025 , CSK has the option to retain Dhoni as uncapped player. New rule allowing playing players to be considered as uncapped if they retired from International cricket for five years.
Last year Dhoni gave captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad but CSK exit from the tournament in the group stage.

Dhoni so far played 264 IPL matches , scored 5243 runs with an average of 39.13 with strike rate of 137.54.
