“The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced Jason Gillepse will coach the Pakistan men’s cricket team on next month’s white ball tour of Australia after Gary Kirsten submitted his resignation, which was accepted,” the PCB said.

Kirsten appointed as coach by PCB for a two year contract in April at the same time as Jason Gillepse took over the test side. There has been a rift between the PCB and the coaches following the board’s decision to strip them of selection powers.

Kirsten decided to step down as Pakistan coach because Kirsten was keen to have his word in Pakistan squad for the Australia and Zimbabwe tour and the appointment of Rizwan as Pakistan white ball captain which PCB paid no attention.

Gillepse who took charge as white ball coach also not happy with the PCB developments , calling himself a match-day strategist.

“The PCB came out and made some changes after that test match and it was decided that a new selection panel would come in and they would be making the decisions. I was not involved in the decision-making. I am just a coach on match day strategy. So, I keep out of things now and just focus on players and getting them ready for cricket,” Gillepse said.
