Top order batter Oshada Fernando recalled to the 16 member Srilanka test squad for the 2 match series against New Zealand at home.

Oshada Fernando last played a test match was against New Zealand in March 2023. He played 21 tests and scored 1091 runs at an average of 33.06 including 1 hundred and 7 fifties.

Opening batter Nishan Maduksha has been left out after poor test series against England. Pathum Nissanka who opened in his place played a match winning hundred in the second innings of third test.

Nisala Tharaka and Kasun Rajitha , who were part of 3 match test series against England also dropped from the squad. Dhananjaya de Silva will lead the squad.

Both tests will be played at Galle. First test of the series will be played from Sep 18 to Sep 23 and second test from Sep 26 – Sep 30.
