37 year old England all-rounder Moeen Ali announces retirement from all internationals after being dropped from the upcoming white ball series against Australia.

“I’m 37 year old and didn’t get picked for this month’s Australia series. I’ve played a lot of cricket for England. It’s time for the next generation , which was also explained to me. It felt the time was right. I’ve done my part.

“Playing for England were the best days of my life. I could hold and and try to play for England again, but I know in reality I won’t. Even retiring, I don’t feel it’s because I’m not good enough – I still feel I can play. But I get how things are, and the teams needs to evolve into another cycle.

“I’m very proud. When you first play for England , you don’t know how many games you are going to play. So to play nearly 300,” Moeen Ali said.

Ali last played for England was in 2024 ICC T20 World cup semi final against India. He played 68 tests , 138 ODIs and 92 T20Is for England and scored 3094 , 2355 and 1229 runs respectively.

Moeen Ali picked 204 tests , 111 ODIs and 51 T20Is wickets in his International career. He was part of that white ball squad that won the 50 over world cup on home soil in 2019 and T20 World Cup in 2022.

However , Moeen Ali will continue to feature in T20 franchise cricket. He plays for Chennai Super Kings in IPL , Joburg Super kings in SA20 and Comilla Victorians in Bangladesh Premier League.

Moeen all set to make his CPL debut for the Guyana Amazon Warriors after being signed up as a replacement player for Saim Ayub.
