Dominant India thrashed Pakistan by 61 runs to secure Super 8 qualification at the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. India set Pakistan a 176 run target and bowled them out for 114 within 18 overs. Ishan Kishan was named Player of the Match for his brillant knock of 77 runs off 40 balls.

Toss

Salman Agha, Pakistan captain won the toss and chose to field first.

India Innings

Started with spin, Pakistan struck as Abhishek Sharma fell for a duck to Salman Agha in the first over. This was his second consecutive duck in the tournament. Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma added 87 runs off 46 balls for the second wicket to lift India strongly.

Ishan Kishan played a special innings on a tough wicket before being dismissed by Saim Ayub. He scored 77 runs off 40 balls, smashing 10 fours and 3 sixes. Tilak varma and Suryakumar Yadhav played cautiously to keep the scoreboard moving.

Saim Ayub dismissed Tilak varma (25 off 24) and Hardik Pandya (0) in consecutive deliveries pushing India to 126/4. Suryakumar Yadhav (32 off 29), Shivam Dube (27 off 17) and Rinku Singh (11* off 4) guided India to 175/7 at the end.

Saim Ayub (3/25 in 4 overs) , Salman Agha (1/10 in 2 overs) , Usman Tariq (1/24 in 4 overs) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (1/31 in 2 overs).

Pakistan Innings

Indian bowlers seized control in the powerplay, taking four wickets for 38 runs. Sahibzada Farhan (0 off 4) , Saim Ayub (6 off 2) , Salman Agha (4 off 4) and Babar Azam (5 off 7) are the batters dismissed in first 6 overs. Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets, while Hardik and Axar claimed one each.

They never recovered from early setbacks and kept losing wickets at regular intervals throughout the chase. Usman Khan fought with 44 runs off 34 balls while Shaheen Shah Afridi scored 23 off 19 balls. Finally bowled out for 114, India secured a dominant win.

With this win India qualified for the Super 8 stage.
