Openers Smriti Mandhana hit 80 and Shafali Verma smashed 79 powering India to 30 run win to go 4-0 up. India set Srilanka 222 run target and restricted the visitors to 191 for 6 in 20 overs. Smriti Mandhana was named Player of the Match for her outstanding innings of 80 runs off 48 balls.

Toss

Winning the toss for the first time in the series, Srilanka elected to bowl.

India Innings

Shafali Verma (79 off 46) and Smriti Mandhana (80 off 48) gave India a strong opening start. Both added 162 runs for the opening wicket before Nimasha Meepage finally dismissed Shafali Verma.

From ball one, India openers took the attack to the opposition. Both batters scored 61 runs in the powerplay without losing a wicket.

Smriti Mandhana reached the milestone of 10,000 international runs during her knock of 80. She becomes the fourth and the fastest ever to reach this milestone, achieving it in just 281 innings. Mithali Raj (India) , Suzie Bates (New Zealand) and Charlotte Edwards (England) are the only other players to achieve this feat.

Richa Ghosh’s scintillating innings of 40 runs from just 16 balls, along with Harmanpreet Kaur’s 16 from 10 balls, powered India to 221/2 at the end.

Wicket Takers Srilanka

Malsha Shehani (1/32 in 4 overs) and Nimasha Meepage (1/40 in 4 overs) are the wicket takers for Srilanka.

Srilanka Innings

Lankan openers Hasini Perera and Chamari Athapaththu gave their team a strong start, putting on a 59 run stand in 5.3 overs. Arundathi Reddy broke the opening stand by dismissing Hasini Perera for 33.

Chamari Athapaththu went on to score her 14th half century adding 57 runs for the second wicket with Imesha Dulani. Vaishnavi Sharma then gave India the crucial wicket of Chamari Athapaththu, ending her knock. She hit 3 sixes and 3 fours.

Imesha Dulani (29 off 28) , Harshitha Samarawickrama (20 off 13) , Kavisha Dilhari (13 off 8) and Nilakshi Silva (23* off 11) led Srilanka’s spirited chase. However the target proved too high, and Srilanka fell short, losing the match by 30 runs.

Wicket Takers India

While most bowlers leaked runs in the match, Vaishnavi Sharma bowled an economical spell of 2 for 24 in 4 overs. Arundhati Reddy 2/42 in 4 overs) and Shree Charani (1/46 in 4 overs) are the other wicket takers for India.
