Mumbai Indians have named former Australia cricketer Kristen Beams as their spin bowling coach for the upcoming WPL 2026. The 41 year old former leg spinner Kristen Beams played for Australia across all three International formats between 2014 and 2017 seasons.

She represented Australia in one Test , 30 ODIs and 18 T20Is during her International career. In ODIs she claimed 42 wickets, while in T20Is she finished with 20 scalps.

Joining head coach Lisa Keightley , bowling coach and mentor Jhulan Goswami , Kristen Beams strengthens the Mumbai Indians support staff. Batting coach Devika Palshikar and fielding coach Nicole Bolton further boost their backroom unit for the season ahead.

After retiring as a player Kristen moved into coaching and worked in the WBBL as well as The Hundred. She also serves as the Australia Under-19 women’s team coach, guiding young talents and helping shape the future stars.

What Kristen Beams said?

“It’s an incredible opportunity to work with someone like a Jhulan Goswami, one of the greats of the game, somebody I played cricket against.[It’s an] incredible culture….. that they have developed a winning culture over a really long period of time, But a family that’s what you hear everyone talks about that this group is so tight-knit, and it’s a family and it’s what you want to be a part of. And I think as a coach coming in, that’s exactly what you want to be able to do, is to walk into an environment that feels really tight-knit, and a team that knows how to win,” Kristen Beams said.

The fourth edition of the tournament is scheduled to be played from January 9 to February 5 ,2026. Mumbai Indians will begin their campaign against Royal Challengers Bangalore on January 9.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians will look to retain the trophy in the upcoming edition of the tournament. They also won the inaugural edition of the tournament, which was held in 2023.
