South Africa beat Srilanka convincingly by 10 wickets under the DLS method , extending their winning streak to four matches in a row. Their openers made light work of the revised target , showcasing dominance with both bat and ball.

Toss

After winning the toss Srilanka elected to bat first.

Srilanka Innings

Srilanka openers added 21 runs before Vishmi Gunaratne retired hurt after a brief but steady start. She retired hurt after a throw hit her knee while running for a quick single before rain stopped play.

Masabata Klass bowled a beauty to dismiss Hasini Perera for 4 , giving South Africa their first wicket. She then trapped Srilanka captain Chamari Athapaththu lbw for 11.

Rain stops play

Rain stopped play with Srilanka at 46/2 after 12 overs. A heavy downpour after 12 overs threatened fourth washout at R Premadasa Stadium, but rain eased for a 20 over contest.

Play resumes

Play resumed with Srilanka at 46/2 , but their batters added only 17 more before Kavishi Dilhari (14) and Harsitha Samarawickrama (13) were out on the same score.

Vishmi Gunaratne , returning after the fall of the fourth wicket , scored 34 runs from 33 balls. She was the top scorer in Srilanka’s innings. Wicket keeper batter Nilakshika Silva scored 18 runs from 17 balls.

Srilanka finished their innings at 105/7 , setting South Africa a target of 121 in 20 overs under DLS.

Wicket Takers South Africa

Slow left arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba took 3 wickets for 30 runs in her 4 overs. Masabata Klass (2/18 in 5 overs) and Nadne de klerk (1/23 n 4 overs) are the other wicket takers for South Africa.

South Africa’s chase

Chasing 121 in 20 overs , South Africa openers finished the job in 14.5 overs without losing a wicket. Both openers hit half centuries.
