All-rounder Vijay Shankar set to leave Tamil Nadu after 13 year stint , will join Tripura in the upcoming domestic season. He made his debut for Tamil Nadu in 2012 and was an integral part of the side in all three formats.

Career so far

Vijay Shankar has played 70 first class , 106 List A and 152 T20s so far. He scored 3702 (First Class) , 2632 (List A) and 2454 (T20s) runs. The all-rounder also picked 43 (First Class) , 64 (List A) and 36 (T20s) wickets also.

He also played 12 One Day Internationals and 9 T20Is for India. He was part of Indian squad in 2019 ODI World Cup. In the match against Pakistan he took wicket in his first ball and become the third player to do so in a World Cup match.

What he said?

He has already secured NOC from the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) to move to Tripura.

“I have obtained the NOC from TNCA but I am yet to receive confirmation from the Tripura Cricket Association. I will be able to officially announce my switch once I get the formal approval letter from Tripura,” Vijay Shankar said.

Highlight of his career

In the last first class season he scored 476 runs in 6 matches at an average of 52.88 with two centuries and a half century. In List A cricket Vijay Shankar scored 188 runs at an average of 37.6. From 4 matches in Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy he scored 83 runs.

Vijay Shankar played a huge role in Tamil Nadu winning Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2016-17 season and Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy in 2021-22. He was part of Chennai Super Kings in last season of Indian Premier League.

Hanuma Vihari also shifted to Tripura

Recently India cricketer Hanuma Vihari also switched to Tripura from Andhra Pradesh.

“After thoughtful consideration, I have made the decision to move to the Tripura Cricket Association, where I will be representing the state in all three formats of the game.

“While I’m grateful to Andhra Cricket Association for the role they have played in my journey so far, I believe that it’s time for a platform that alligns better with my aspirations and allows me to contribute consistently across formats. I am excited for this fresh challenge and fully committed to giving my best in this next phase,” Vihari said.
