After the T20I series which Australia won 2-1 both teams now gears up for the three match ODI series at Cairns. Australia and South Africa going to play their first match in this format after the semifinal exit of Champions Trophy 2025.
Next ODI world Cup which is scheduled to be held in South Africa , Zimbabwe and Namibia in 2027. Both teams aims to build a strong team for the mega event. Star players Steve Smith (Australia) , Glenn Maxwell (Australia) and Heinrich Klaassen (South Africa) retired from this format after 2025 Champions Trophy.
Team News – Australia
Regular Australia captain Pat Cummins will miss the series and Mitchell Marsh will lead in his absence. Marnus Labuschagne who lost his place in test played in West Indies recently will play this format.

Alex Carey , Josh Inglis and Cameron Green will fill the middle order. Cooper Connolly may come in place of Maxwell. Josh Hazlewood and Xavier Bartlett is likely to open the bowling for Australia.
Along with Travis Head who will open the batting is the biggest headache for the Aussies.

Team News – South Africa
Temba Bavuma who leads South Africa to World Test Championship title will lead the ODI side. They will miss Heinrich Klaassen who retired recently in the middle order. David Miller , Rassie Van der Dussen and Marco Jansen also not available.
Both David Miller and Rassie Van der Dussen are playing The Hundred in England. Marco Jansen who is recovering from thumb injury. Dewald Brevis is likely to make his ODI debut after his outstanding performance in T20Is.
South Africa Probable XI
Ryan Rickelton (wk) , Aiden Markram , Temba Bavuma (c) , Matthew Breetzke , Lhuan-dre Pretorious , Wiaan Mulder , Prenelan Subrayen , Keshav Maharaj , Kagiso Rabada , Kwena Maphaka , Lungi Ngidi.
In the past Australia and South Africa produced thrilling cricket matches and this series is expected to be the same.
