England included allrounder Jamie Overton for the series decider final test against India at The Oval. Currently England leads the five match test series 2-1. Fifth test will be played from July 31 to August 04.

Overton’s Career

Overton so far played only one test against Newzealand at Leeds in 2022. He picked 2 wickets and scored 97 runs in that match. He also picked 7 wickets from 6 ODIs and 11 wickets from 12 T20Is and scored 82 & 50 runs respectively.

From 98 first class matches Overton picked 237 wickets with best bowling figures of 6/61. He scored 2401 runs with an average of 21.82 including 1 hundred and 13 fifties.

England Pace Bowling Unit

Overton joins the squad as sixth pace bowling option which includes Jofra Archer , Chris Woakes , Josh Tongue , Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse. England also had pace bowling allrounder in their captain Ben Stokes.

What Ben Stokes said

“If you look at how long we’ve been out in the field and the overs that we bowled as a bowling unit, everyone is going to be pretty sore and pretty tired going into the last game of the series. There will be an assessment of everyone, and hopefully we can use these next two or three days rest period wisely then have to make a decision.

“The recovery days are going to be pretty important, and we might have to make a few decisions to get some fresh legs in. But that won’t be decided until we get closer to the last game,” England captain Ben Stokes said.
