Shubman Gill (114* runs from 216 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (87 runs from 107 balls) guides India to reach 310/5 on the opening day of second test at Birmingham. Earlier England captain Ben Stokes won the toss put India in to bat.

Team India lost their opening batter K.L.Rahul (2 runs from 26 balls) early. He dragged one in to stumps off Chris Woakes when the team score reached 15. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Karun Nair (31 runs from 50 balls) put together 80 runs from 90 balls for the second wicket.

Brydon Carse produced an outstanding short ball to dismiss well settled Karun Nair just before lunch. The ball hit the edge of the bat and caught by Brook who was standing at second slip. India were 98/2 at end of first session of play.

Jaiswal put together another half century stand with Indian captain Shubman Gill for the third wicket. Both added 66 runs from 131 balls before England captain Ben Stokes dismissed Jaiswal for 87. He hit 13 boundaries in his outstanding knock.

Rishabh Pant who hit twin hundred at Leeds scored 25 runs from 42 balls before he got out while trying to hit a maximum of Shoaib Bashir. He also formed a 47 run stand with Shubman Gill for the fourth wicket.

Nitish Kumar Reddy (1 run from 6 balls) failed to capitalize the opportunity he got to score a big one. Reddy leaves the delivery of Chris Woakes that nipped back and hit his stumps. India were 211/5 and in a spot of bother at that point of time.

Shubman Gill (114* runs from 216 balls) and Ravindra Jadeja (41* runs from 67 balls) steadied the Indian innings with unbroken 99 run stand and helps India to reach 310/5. During the partnership Indian captain Gill hit his second century as test captain.

Chris Woakes (2/59 in 21 overs) , Brydon Crase (1/49 in 16 overs) , Ben Stokes (1/58 in 15 overs) and Shoaib Bashir (1/65 in 19 overs) are the wicket takers for England so far.
