Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Chennai Super Kings by 2 runs in epic last ball thriller at Chinnaswamy stadium , Bengaluru. RCB set CSK 214 run target and restrict them to 211/5 in 20 overs. Romario Shepherd named Player of the Match for his outstanding knock of unbeaten 53 runs from 14 balls.

RCB openers Virat Kohli (62 runs from 33 balls) and Jacob Bethell (55 runs from 33 balls) provided a solid start to their team by scoring 97 runs for the first wicket in 9.5 overs. Srilanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana dismissed Jacob Bethell to provide first breakthrough for CSK.

CSK bowlers then restrict the flow of runs in the middle phase of the RCB innings and picked the wickets of Virat Kohli (62 runs from 33 balls) , Devdutt Padikkal (17 runs from 15 balls) , Rajat Patidar (11 runs from 15 balls) and Jitesh Sharma (7 runs from 8 balls).

From 11th to 18th over RCB were able to score only 62 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Romario Shepherd’s extraordinary power hitting in final two overs helped RCB to reach 213/5 in their 20 overs. He smashed unbeaten 53 runs from 14 balls.

RCB hit 33 runs in the 19th over bowled by Khaleel Ahmed and 21 runs in the final over bowled by Matheesha Pathirana. Matheesha Pathirana (3/36 in 4 overs) , Noor Ahmed (1/26 in 4 overs) and Sam Curran (1/34 in 3 overs) are the wicket takers for CSK.

Chasing 214 runs , CSK opening stand between Ayush Mhatre and Shaik Rasheed scored 51 runs in 4.3 overs before Krunal Pandya dismissed Shaik Rasheed for 14. CSK lost Sam Curran (5 runs from 5 balls) also inside the powerplay. Lungi Ngidi dismissed him in the final over of the power play.

17 year old Ayush Mhatre innings of 94 runs from 48 balls including 9 fours and 5 sixes and Ravindra Jadeja’s 77 runs from 45 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes put CSK back in the chase. Both together scored crucial 114 runs from 64 balls. Lungi Ngidi broke the stand with well deceived slower ball to Ayush Mhatre.

Next ball CSK batter Dewald Brevis was given out in controversial manner. Lungi Ngidi trapped him infront of the stumps and umpire given it out. The big screen didn’t show the clock running and when he tried to review the the decision, the 15-second timer for the DRS call had expired. As a result Brevis had to walk back to the pavilion for zero.

Dhoni who walks to bat after the fall of Brewis scored 12 runs from 8 balls and got out to left arm pacer Yash Dayal in the third ball of the final over when CSK needed 13 more to win. Dube hit six of the first ball he faced off a no-ball and reduced the target to 6 from 3 balls.

Yash Dayal executed his plan well in the final 3 balls giving just 3 runs to give RCB thrilling 2 run win. Lungi Ngidi (3/30 in 4 overs) , Krunal Pandya (1/24 in 4 overs) and Yash Dayal (1/41 in 4 overs) are the wicket takers for RCB.
