India will face Australia in crucial fifth Test at Sydney Cricket Ground to retain Border Gavaskar Trophy and their hopes to keep the World Test Championship final spot alive. Australia currently lead the five match test series 2-1.

After winning the first test by 295 runs , India lost second test by 10 wickets and fourth test by 184 runs while the third test ended in draw.

India’s batting remains a big concern while heading towards the final test. Senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are short of runs in this series so far. Indian batting hugely depends on openers Yashasvi Jaiswal , K.L.Rahul and allrounder Nitish Kumar Reddy.

With 30 wickets from 4 tests Jasprit Bumrah is the standout bowler for India. Other pace bowlers need to step up if India need to win the Sydney Test. Prasidh Krishna may replace Akash Deep who injured his back.

India captain Rohit Sharma is set to miss the final test with Jasprit Bumrah set to lead the side.

“Everything is fine with Rohit , and we will announce the playing XI tomorrow after evaluating the pitch. Our main focus in the dressing room has been on how we will win the next test , as it is crucial for us,” Head Coach Gambhir said.

Mitchell Starc who struggled during the Melbourne test has been declared fit to play the Sydney Test.

Both teams may choose to bat first if they won the toss. Sydney pitch normally offers runs during the first half of the game and as match progress it will help spinners. Rain is predicted for the final day of the match.
