First day of the third Border Gavaskar Trophy test between India and Australia called off after persistent rain. The play cut short to just 13.2 overs on day 1.

India captain Rohit Sharma who won the toss and ask Australia to bat. India made couple of changes in their squad from last test.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Pacer Akash Deep included in the squad in place of Ravichandran Ashwin and Harshit Rana.

Australia on other hand brought back Josh Hazlewood in place of injured Scott Boland.

Australia openers Usman Khawaja (19* runs from 47 balls) and Nathan McSweeney (4* runs from 33 balls) safely negotiate the 13.2 overs. Rain forced to stop the play twice.

Jasprit Bumbrah bowled 6 overs , Mohammed Siraj bowled 4 overs and Akash Deep bowled 3.2 overs for the day without any success.

With as many as 76.4 overs of play lost on day 1 , the match officials will try to make up for it with an early start on all 4 remaining days of play.
