Former India cricketer Hemang Badani is the front runner to become Delhi Capitals head coach after the departure of Ricky Ponting. Munaf Patel could become their bowling coach for the IPL 2025 season.

Additionally , former India batter Venugopal Rao will serve as team’s director of cricket. Venugopal Rao who represented for Delhi Capitals played 16 ODIs for India. Hemang Badani played 4 tests and 40 ODIs for India.

Delhi Capitals management is looking at quality home-grown coaches and Hemang and Munaf’s names have cropped up and a final decision is yet to be taken.

Hemang Badani was a part of Sunrises Hyderabad coaching staff in 2023 , when Brain Lara was their head coach.

Delhi Capitals likely to retain 3 players for the upcoming IPL 2025 season , including their captain Rishabh Pant (INR 18 crores) , Axar Patel (INR 14 crores) and Kuldeep Yadhav (INR 11 crores).
