Former India pacer Zaheer Khan appointed as mentor of Lucknow Super Giants ahead of 2025 Indian Premier League. He replaces current India head coach Gautham Gambhir who left LSG to rejoin Kolkata Knight Riders before IPL 2024.

Zaheer Khan will also fill the bowling coach role vacant after Morne Morkel joined India men’s cricket team bowling coach under Gambhir.

“Till some time ago I didn’t know that he was no longer with Mumbai Indians. I approached him immediately. It is as simple as that. He is strategically strong. He has got respect amongst the community without doubt. And his mind is clear,” franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka said.

As a player Zaheer Khan played 100 IPL matches and picked 102 wickets at an economy of 7.59. He played for Mumbai Indians , Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Daredevils.

He played 92 tests , 200 ODIs and 17 T20Is for India and picked 311 , 282 and 17 wickets respectively.

From 2018 to 2022 , Zaheer Khan was involved with Mumbai Indians franchise , first as director of cricket and then head of global development.

“I will make sure that the process that is required to LSG the next level is there. the next season is going to be a special one,” Zaheer Khan said as per RevSportz.
