India bowled out West Indies for 162 on Day 1 of first Test , with pacers doing the bulk of the damage. Mohammed Siraj picked up 4 wickets while Jasprit Bumrah claimed 3. In response to West Indies score India closed Day 1 on 121/2 , with K.L.Rahul anchoring the innings with a patient half century.

West indies – First Innings – Day 1
Elected to bat first , West Indies lost their opener Tagnarine Chanderpaul for a duck. The ball brushed his glove off the bowling off Siraj and was safely taken by wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel. They lost their first wicket at the score of 12.
Jasprit Bumrah struck next to draw second blood for India , removing the other left hand opener John Campbell for 8. The ball knicked both pad and bat before wicketkeeper Jurel completed a straightforward catch.

Brandon King , who looked positive during his short stay of 13 runs from 15 balls , misjudged an inswinger from Siraj. Choosing to leave the delivery, he saw the ball crush into his middle stump.
Alick Athanaze , after scoring 12 runs from 24 balls , played away from his body and edged a delivery from Bumrah straight to K.L.Rahul at first slip.
Captain Roston Chase (22* runs from 35 balls) and Shai Hope (26 runs from 36 balls) steadied the West Indies innings with a 48 run partnership. Kuldeep Yadhav clean bowled Shai Hope in the last over before lunch to break the stand.
West Indies were 90/5 at lunch.
Second Session
Mohammad Siraj struck early in the second session , removing skipper Roston Chase for 24. The wicket keeper once gain played his part as Chase edged one behind to Dhruv Jurel.
Justin Greaves and Khary Pierre added a brief 39 run stand for the seventh wicket , but the partnership was broken when Washington Sundar trapped Pierre leg-before for 11.
Jasprit Bumrah then delivered two perfect yorkers , sending Justin Greaves for 32 and Layne for just 1.
Kuldeep Yadhav claimed his second wicket by dismissing Jomel Warrican for 8 , wrapping up the West Indies innings for 162.

Mohammad Siraj was the standout bowler for India, claiming 4 wickets for just 40 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadhav provided solid support with three and two wickets respectively.

India Innings – Third Session
India’s openers began cautiously , with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 4 runs from 36 balls and K.L.Rahul contributing 18 from 40 deliveries. The score was 23 without loss when rain forced the umpires to halt play.
After the rain break , Jaiswal shifted gears and played positively , guiding India to 68 before falling to Jayden Seales for 36. Sai Sudharsan’s stay was short lived as West Indies captain Roston Chase trapped him in front for just 7.
K.L.Rahul (53* runs from 114 balls) and Shubman Gill (18* runs from 42 balls) steadied India to 121/2 at stumps , adding 31 runs for the third wicket. Rahul brought up his fifty and remains unbeaten on 53 , while Gill is giving him solid support at the other end.
