39 year old Srilanka domestic cricketer Saliya Saman banned for 5 years from all forms of cricket. International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-Corruption Tribunal found him guilty of breaching the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Anti-Corruption Code.

Why Saliya Saman banned ?

During the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League he attempts to corrupt matches in that tournament. He was among the eight people charged in September 2023 for breaching the code.

Saliya Saman played for Pune Devils in 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 Tournament. Bangladesh allrounder Nasir Hossain banned for two years in January 2024 after being found guilty of the three charges against him.

He found guilty of the following Article:-

Article 2.1.1:- Being party to an attempt to fix , contrive or influence improperly matches or aspects of matches in the Abu Dhabi T10 2021.

Article 2.1.3:- Offering a Reward to another Participant in exchange for that player engaging in Corrupt Conduct under the code.

Article 2.1.4:- Directly or indirectly soliciting , inducing , enticing , instructing , persuading , encouraging or intentionally facilitating any Participant to breach Code Article 2.1.

The ban is backdated to September 2023 when Saliya Saman was provisionally suspended.

Career Stats

In his career he played for Srilanka U-17 and Srilanka U-19. In his domestic career the allrounder played 101 first class , 77 List A and 47 T20 matches. He scored 3662 first class runs , 898 List A runs and 673 T20 runs.

Saliya Saman also took 231 , 84 and 58 wickets respectively in First class , List A and T20s.
