Sudharsan , Jaiswal fifties takes India to 264/4 on Day 1 of the fourth test

Sai Sudharsan (61 runs from 151 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (58 runs from 107 balls) helps India finishes 264/4 on day 1 of the fourth test at Manchester.

Team Changes

Indian made three changes to their squad from previous test. Injuries forced Akash Deep and Nitish Kumar Reddy out of the playing XI and replaced by Anshul Kamboj and Shardul Thakur. Also Sai Sudharsan back in place of Karun Nair.

Allrounder Liam Dawson replaces injured Shoaib Bashir for England.

Toss

England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and elected to field first.

First Session-Openers Shines

After put into bat India openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and K.L.Rahul given India a steady start by scoring 78 runs without loosing any wicket. Both batted patiently during the first session.

K.L.Rahul continued his good form with the bat and he goes past 400 runs in the series and becomes the fifth Indian batter to score 1000 test runs in England.

At the end of the session India were 78/0 (Jaiswal 36* , K.L.Rahul 40*)

Second Session-India lost 3 wickets

Pacer Chris Woakes provided England first breakthrough after openers scored 94 runs for the opening wicket. He dismissed opener K.L.Rahul for 46. Rahul edged one to Zak Crawley at slip.

Liam Dawson who made a comeback to England squad after 8 years provided England second breakthrough by dismissing left hand opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for 58. Harry Brook took the catch at slip to give Dawson his first test wicket in eight years.

England captain Ben Stokes dismissed India captain Shubman Gill for 12. Gill didn’t offer a shot and was trapped in front of the stumps.

India scored 71 runs in second session for the loss of 3 wickets.

Thrid Session – Pant Injured , Sudharsan fifty

Sai Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant resumed the India inning in last session and both added 72 runs from 112 balls before Rishabh Pant got injured. Ball hit on his right foot while he attempted to play a reverse sweep off a full delivery.

Pant scored 37 runs from 48 balls including 2 fours and a six before he retired hurt.

Sai Sudharsan (61 runs from 151 balls) hit his first test fifty before he played a false short of Ben Stokes to got out.

Ravindra Jadeja (19* runs from 37 balls) and Shardhul Thakur (19* runs from 36 balls) when India ended day 1 on 264/4.

Ben Stokes (2/47 in 14 overs) , Chris Woakes (1/43 in 17 overs) and Liam Dawson (1/45 in 15 overs).
