Samson and spinners give India comfortable win in first T20I

Sanju Samson’s blistering century , Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi outstanding spell gives India comfortable 61 run win against South Africa in first T20I. Sanju Samson named player of the match for his outstanding innings.

After put in to bat by South Africa captain Aiden Markram India lost Abhishek Sharma (7 runs from 8 balls) cheaply in the fourth over of the innings to Nqabayomzi Peter. Sanju Samson (107 runs from 50 balls) along with captain built 66 run partnership for the second wicket give momentum to the Indian innings.

Samson then with left hander Tilak Varma (33 runs from 18 balls) who played a cameo added 77 runs from 34 balls for the third wicket. Sanju Samson become the first Indian to score successive centuries in T20Is. He hit his century in just 47 balls including 7 fours and 10 sixes.

South African bowlers bowled well in the final 5 overs of the innings giving just 35 runs and picked 5 wickets. After the end of 20 overs India set South Africa challenging target of 203.

Left arm seamer Arshdeep Singh given India a good start with the ball defending 203 by dismissing South Africa captain Aiden Markram for 8. Indian bowlers put pressure on South African batters through out the innings by picking wickets regularly.

Indian spinners Varun Chakravarthy (3/25 in 4 overs) and Ravi Bishnoi (3/28 in 4 overs) rip through the South African middle order with their outstanding spell. Both picked 2 wickets in 12th and 13th over of the South African innings.

Opener Ryan Rickelton (21 runs from 11 balls) , Heinrich Klassen (25 runs from 22 balls) and Gerald Coetzee (23 runs from 11 balls) got starts but failed to convert it to a big one chasing 203. South Africa who were never in the chase bowled out for 141.
