Legendary West Indies fast bowler Courtney Walsh named as coaching consultant for Zimbabwe women cricket team ahead of T20 World cup qualifier 2024 to be held in Abu Dhabi from April 25 onwards.

Top 2 teams from the 10 teams will qualify for the mega event which is scheduled to be held in Bangladesh later this year. Zimbabwe didn’t qualified for the Women T20 World cup so far. Zimbabwe are in Group B alongside hosts UAE , Ireland , Netherlands and Vanuatu.

“We count ourselves fortunate and privileged to be able to bring in Courtney as a technical consultant for our campaign at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in Abu Dhabi. He is one of the world’s greatest cricketers and we believe his experience at the highest level of the women’s game in particular will boos our chances of securing one of the two spots up for graps at the main global showpiece later in the year,” ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni said.

Between October 2020 to April 2023 Walsh was head coach of West Indies Women’s team. He picked 519 wickets from 132 test matches and 227 wickets from 205 ODI matches he played for West Indies.
