Indian cricketer Karn Sharma has announced his retirement from international and domestic cricket. The 38 year old represented India in one Test, two ODIs and one T20I during his international career. He confirmed his retirement during the UP T20 league clash between Kanpur Superstars and Meerut Mavericks at Lucknow’s Ekana stadium.

“I now want to retire. I am extremely grateful to my family, BCCI , Railways , UPCA , Andhra , Vidarbha Cricket Association and everyone who has supported me throughout this journey. After this I will be available for coaching and other responsibilities related to the game of cricket,” Karn Sharma said.

“It is actually a good initiative. For me and others, it is a good opportunity. The message is that I want to retire. I will be playing my last game on Tuesday and I will be retiring from all formats,” Karn Sharma said related to UP T20 League.

Sharma made his international debut for India in a T20I against England at Birmingham in September 2014. He finished his debut match with one wicket for 28 runs from his four over spell. He played two ODI matches for India but was unable to take any wickets.

The only red ball match he played for India was against Australia in Adelaide in December 2014. He took four wickets in that match while conceding 238 runs with his best figures being 2/95.

Karn Sharma played for four different IPL franchises during his long and successful career. He played for Sunrises Hyderabad from 2013-16 , Mumbai Indians in 2017 , Chennai Super Kings from 2018-21 and RCB from 2022-26. In 2018, he became the first player to win three straight IPL titles with different teams: SRH, MI and CSK.

In 90 IPL matches he took 83 wickets with best figures of 4/16 and an economy rate of 8.38. His last IPL match came in May 2025 for Mumbai Indians against Delhi Capitals.
