
India took a massive 178 run first innings lead after bowling Srilanka out for 284 on day two of the test. Spinners helped the team take control of the Test by putting Srilanka’s batters under constant pressure. In the first innings India finished on 462 runs.
First Session
Play resumed with India at 460/9 overnight and the innings soon ended at 462 after losing the final wicket. Prasidh Krishna became the final Indian batter to fall dismissed by Asitha Fernando. Devdutt Padikkal top scored for India with 167 runs from 230 balls scoring his maiden test hundred.

Mohammed Siraj gave India a perfect start dismissing opener Nishan Madushka Fernando for a second ball duck. Manav Suthar bowled a brilliant first ball dismissing Dinesh Chandimal for 4. Their top order struggled badly losing five wickets for just 90 runs and putting their innings under serious pressure.
At the end of first session Srilanka were 99/5.
Second Session
Srilanka batters Niroshan Dickwella and Sonal Dinusha dominated the second session adding runs steadily with out losing a wicket. They added 116 runs in the session advancing Srilanka from 99/5 to 215/5. Both batters scored half centuries with Sonal Dinusha on 62 and Niroshan Dickwella unbeaten on 72.
Third Session
Prasidh Krishna gave India a much needed wicket when Niroshan Dickwella edged the ball behind allowing Rishabh Pant to take the catch. He scored 80 runs from 115 balls hitting seven fours. Keshara Nuwantha fell cheaply for two runs to Ravindra Jadeja who claimed his 350th test wicket with the dismissal.

Sonal Dinusha played an invaluable knock and went on to score his first Test hundred for Srilanka. He scored 100 runs from 168 balls before Ravindra Jadeja trapped him leg before wicket in front of the stumps. Manav Suthar dismissed Lahiru Kumara ending Srilanka’s innings at 284 and giving India a handy 178 run first innings lead.
