Dominant performance with bat and ball helped Rajasthan Royals thrash Chennai Super Kings by eight wickets. Rajasthan Royals bowled out Chennai Super Kings for 127 and chased target comfortably in just 12.1 overs. Nandre Burger was named Player of the Match for his impressive spell of 2/26 in 4 overs. In all three matches played so far in the IPL, bowlers have been named Player of the Match.

In his first game as full time captain, Riyan Parag won the toss for Rajasthan Royals and elected to field first.

Chennai Super Kings Innings

CSK batters struggled on a pitch kept under covers for long periods due to rain. World Cup hero Sanju Samson, playing his first match for Chennai Super Kings after moving from Rajasthan, did not last long. Left arm pacer Nandre Burger cleaned him up in the second over for just six runs.

In the very next over, Jofra Archer dismissed Ruturaj Gaikwad for seven, while Nandre Burger removed Ayush Mhatre for a first ball duck. They were put under pressure after losing three wickets for 19 runs in 3.1 overs. Sarfaraz Khan, who came as impact player scored 17 off 12 before Ravindra Jadeja trapped him in front.

Losing wickets at regular intervals, Jamie Overton’s 43 off 36 helped Chennai Super Kings reach a total of 127. Karthik Sharma in his debut IPL match scored 18 runs from 15 balls.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gave Rajasthan Royals a flying start, adding 75 runs in just 6.1 overs. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored a rapid fifty in just 15 balls, registering the joint third fastest half century in IPL history. He scored 52 runs from 17 balls before Anshul Kamboj dismissed him.

Dhruv Jurel, batting at number three, scored 18 off nine balls before dragging one onto his stumps attempting a scoop shot. Yashasvi Jaiswal (38* off 36) and Riyan Parag (14* off 11) guided Rajasthan Royals home without further loss.

Wicket Taker Chennai Super Kings

Anshul Kamboj was the only wicket taker, finishing with figures of 2/27 in three overs.
