Team India will begin their 2024 T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland at Nassau County International Stadium in New York on Wednesday (June 5th).

India desperately wants to end their 10 year title drought. They last won an ICC trophy in 2013.

India and Ireland played 8 T20I matches so far and India won 7 matches and 1 finished without a result.

This tournament will be the last assignment for India Head Coach Rahul Dravid and he will aim to end it on high.

India beat Bangladesh by 60 runs in the warm up match. Wicket Keeper batter Rishabh Pant (53 runs from 30 balls) and Hardik Pandya (40* from 23 balls & 1/30 in 3 Overs) performance was positives for India.

India cannot take Ireland likely because they beat Pakistan for the first time by 5 wickets recently. Irish team beat champions England in 2022 T20 World Cup.

“The spinners will have a role to play , a big one. Our spinners are all-rounders , Axar and Jadeja. They are required for a good balance of the team,” India captain Rohit Sharma said.
