South Africa beat India by an innings and 32 runs in the first test and goes 1-0 up in the two match test series. After taken first innings lead of 163 runs they bowled India out for just 131 inside 35 overs. Dean Elgar named player of the match for his outstanding knock of 185 runs from 287 balls.
Dean Elgar and Marco Jansen (84* runs from 147 balls) added another 104 runs for the day before Shardul Thakur dismissed Dean Elgar on 185. Both put together 111 runs from 199 balls for the sixth wicket.

Marco Jansen innings helped South Africa to reach 408. Jasprit Bumbrah shines with the ball for India by taking 4 wickets for 69 runs in his 26.4 overs. Mohammad Siraj (2/91 in 24 overs) , Ravichandran Ashwin (1/41 in 19 overs) , Prasidh Krishna (1/93 in 20 overs) and Shardul Thakur (1/101 in 19 overs) are the other wicket takers for India.
After conceding a first innings lead of 163 runs India lost both the openers Rohit Sharma (0 runs from 8 balls) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (5 runs from 18 balls) for just 13 runs. Once again Indian captain Rohit Sharma got out to Kagiso Rabada. Nandre Burger then dismissed Indian left hand opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Virat Kohli (76 runs from 82 balls) and Shubman Gill (26 runs from 37 balls) added 39 runs for the third wicket which is highest partnership for India in second innings. Apart from Kohli and Gill no other Indian batter reached two digit figures. Kohli was the last batter to got out for the match.
Once again South African pacers made the life difficult for the Indian batters. Nandre Burger leads the wickets columns with his 4 wicket haul by giving just 33 runs in his 10 overs. Marco Jansen (3/36 in 7.1 overs) and Kagiso Rabada (2/32 in 12 overs) are the other wicket takers for South Africa.
Second and last test match of the series will be played from January 3rd to January 7th in Newlands , Capetown.
